At Candia water park, some see Jesus in a flag

By GRETYL MACALASTER
Union Leader Correspondent
CANDIA – Liquid Planet Water Park has been waiting more than two years for a miracle.
Since Kevin Dumont and his family opened the park in 2008, Mother Nature has sent far too many rainy days.
But this year, just after opening, water park staff members saw an unexpected sight as the lifeguard flag was unfurled. In the middle of the red cross was a shadowy face that resembled images of Jesus Christ.
Since the face on the flag was revealed, the weather has been more than perfect, Dumont said. Business is up over 200 percent from last year.
Today, Father Volney "Von" DeRosia from St. Joseph's Church in Epping will be visiting the park to take a look at the image.
Kevin Donovan, spokesman for the Diocese of Manchester, said it can take years for the Vatican to confirm such phenomena.
"If a priest is able, he will take a look. At this stage, there is nothing more to it," Donovan said.
DeRosia will primarily be looking to see if the image could be intentionally fabricated.
Lifeguard manager Sara Schlachter said as soon as she saw the flag, she recognized the image as Christ.
"I'm not religious at all and I'm not much of a believer," she said, adding that she thinks the discovery of the image and the arrival of good weather are pure coincidence.

Kevin Dumont's sister, park manager Kelly Dumont, is also a skeptic.
"I think they're all a bunch of nuts. It looks more like a gladiator, or the Beatles," she said of the image on the flag.
To Dumont, it looks like an image of Christ, flanked by two other faces, with a starburst over their heads.
Dumont said he was born and raised Catholic, but is not practicing the faith now. He said he is spiritual, but doesn't believe there is a vision of the Virgin Mary or Elvis in every potato chip.
"This is a little more than that," he said. "We asked for a miracle."
Dumont said staff members have not mentioned the image to customers, of which there have been thousands since the park opened on June 19.
"I don't want to turn this into a freak show -- but if it is something, I don't want it to be ignored," he said.

The Music Genome Project®
On January 6, 2000 a group of musicians and music-loving technologists came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever.
Together we set out to capture the essence of music at the most fundamental level. We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.
Since we started back in 2000, we've carefully listened to the songs of tens of thousands of different artists - ranging from popular to obscure - and analyzed the musical qualities of each song one attribute at a time. This work continues each and every day as we endeavor to include all the great new stuff coming out of studios, clubs and garages around the world.
It has been quite an adventure, you could say a little crazy - but now that we've created this extraordinary collection of music analysis, we think we can help be your guide as you explore your favorite parts of the music universe.
We hope you enjoy the journey.

Whew....making it...
Next to the grotto are the baths, men and women are separated and the Ave Maria is sung non stop. When you go in you turn around and they hold up a blue sheet for privacy for you to get undressed (you are in a room with about 7 other women). When you are naked they wrap you in the blue sheet. When it is your turn you go in to a stone bath where you step down in the Lourdes water, they pray with you, all your intentions and when you are done they take the blue sheet away, you step all the way to the end, sit and they lay you back holding your arms. You get up and they wrap you in a white sheet, ask for our lady to pray for us, St Bernadette pray for us, and you go back to get dressed. The first time was a bit confusing, so I did it a second time, this time I felt the holy spirit wrap me in it's arms, that's the only way I can describe it. It was so beautiful I cried. I cried a lot this trip and have already been granted many of my prayer requests, which I plan to keep to myself. One interesting thing, when you rise from the water, if you look down, you are not wet. Just maybe some drops on your feet.
We chose the grotto, right under Mary's feet, next to the candles with a Franciscan Priest to renew our vows, it was quick, but it was right. I could never have found a better man, I love you hubby.
We met amazing people, friends for life. Also, I have never prayed so much in my life, and it was so cleansing. I prayed for so many of you too, you know who you are, I don't feel I should name you all. I hope and pray you let me know when something happens you feel has come from my request for intercession.
I have felt a calling for some time, years actually, and while walking in town shopping there it was fluttering in the breeze outside a shop, a beautiful and simple mantilla. I now wear a prayer veil to mass. There, I said it. Now the girls want ones too. Yea!
Ok, one very quickly answered prayer, a better living situation. We got offered a NEW house in a new neighborhood 2 days after our return. So, for the past 2 weeks we have been settling in and now the twins are out of our closet and in their own room!
Health wise, I'm feeling stronger but have problems with joints now. Had a bone scan on Monday, Pet scan on the 26th. Waiting for the Dr. to call with test results, always waiting.
The only bad thing to come of this was my identity was stolen and someone went on a shopping spree in San Diego spending $1200. We got it back.
Special thanks to my parents who gave up so much time and put up with me and my crazy moods after my butcher shop hysterectomy. They came through, showed amazing patience and bonded wonderfully with the girls. I can't thank them enough. I love you Mom & Pop.
Special thanks to those who watched our kiddos while we were in France, especially Anne who was their surrogate mom, Lynda my baby lover, Kathy & Mike who fixed my pool, Pam and everyone else, thank you so much.
I have been sure to learn true humility and humbleness; a year ago I came to a new place, knowing nobody, a stranger with a big bag of real serious issues, and I was welcomed by the arms of Christ himself in the wonderful people I have met and who have helped me. Tearing up now.
Well, we are getting ready for our oldest niece to come out for a month and "mothers help", then my sil and more cousins, then our wonderful nanny, who has become my daughter, my friend, my rock, who saw me go from a normal woman through a mastectomy, chemo-bald and barely walking, radiation, tests after tests and helped raise my girls to love God, and nurture my premie twins all the way through it as I came back to life.
That's where Mrs. Murphy is now.
God bless you all.
btw, the "Song of Bernadette" is not near the true story.

Whats been up?
Monday, full hysterectomy, with a bladder "nick". Ahem, a 4cm "nick". In hospital for 2 days, go home with Foley in, yea, then comes some real pain. Blood, clots trying to make its way down the foley. I got so backed up with blood and clots in my bladder because my great drs sent me home with the wrong medication, I spent Easter in the ER. Here's another how great gov health care is, are you looking forward to this Obama fans? The EMTs ask me like 4 times if I could be pregnant, then, how many pads am I going through? Ambulanced to the ER, wheeled right through and dropped off in the WAITING ROOM. Good luck, see ya.
Hours later, finally got a good gyn to come in, review and straighten me all out. Got a bladder flush that got all the blood and clots out, got to go home no more foley.
Ok, so full Hysterectomy means uterus, tubes and ovaries all out. No more hormones. Instant BAD menopause. I spent a few weeks just crying, but its getting better. My parents came to help and were a blessing when needed. In the beginning I just needed to have some one watch the kids so I could curl up with my narcotics and cry because, come on? What's next?
In all the meantime we are on pins and needles because my Godson, Drew, had taken a real bad turn in his health. It's bad enough feeling sorry for myself, then there is the guilt I have not been there, done enough. He knows neighbors as family better than his godmother and I cry over that as well, and to think our time on Earth would be cut off without.....more. And for a child to be suffering too, is so much worse, you feel so helpless.....It's been a heart wrenching few months.
I'm beginning to feel like Job. So I get some control and BOOM, my best friend is moving, NEXT MONTH. FAR AWAY. So, my faith is really being tested right now, I'm waiting for something good to happen, anything. Next week: Lourdes. I am praying something happens to shake me up, to renew my love for God and Mary that I have had before, instead of feeling so alone. St. Bernadette, please heal my hurting soul and let me follow God's path with acceptance and humility instead of pain and tears. I am always thinking of Jesus on the cross, why has thou forsaken me?
Well, that's what's been up.
God bless you for even reading my story.
